Easily My Favorite
It's spring in Wyoming, which - I have been told - often is home to some gnarly snowstorms. Over the past month we got Ben and Alex plugged in with a local home school community and have been connecting with the church in our town, Douglas Assembly of God. The boys participated in a Royal Rangers derby race and have had a lot of fun with that. We are in the process of dreaming with a team of leaders and students about launching a youth group here in Douglas and have a launch date of May 1st! I'm also coaching soccer this spring for the community here in Douglas and we are excited to let God work through us as we meet families from the community.
One of the behind-the-scenes projects that I have been hard at work on are resource packs for students who are committed to reaching their campus and beyond and serving as a Youth Alive Student Leader this fall. I am still prayerfully planning what would be helpful and fun to put in them to bless and equip our student missionaries. We are excitedly awaiting the drop of some Youth Alive Fire Bibles and are praying that we would be able to equip each student with one.
We recently attended Wyoming Network Conference 22 in Casper. In addition to having a booth in the exhibit area, the Wyoming Network leadership graciously allowed me to share about Youth Alive during the business meeting. The primary speaker was Steven Donaldson from Rural Compassion - and it was really good. It’s crazy to realize that of the 99 towns or cities in Wyoming, only 32 have AG churches. The need is great.
Connecting with the different Wyoming churches, pastors, and youth workers is our ongoing goal. One unexpectedly beautiful thing that I have really, really enjoyed is hearing about the dreams and vision God has put in the heart of the pastors and leaders I have met. This has easily been my favorite part of meeting so many new leaders. There’s just a stirring among the pastors and leaders of Wyoming to see a mighty move of God’s Spirit - coupled with sacrifice to do whatever it takes so that people can know Jesus.
My prayer is that our ministry and interaction with churches and leaders would mean encouragement, refreshment, and excitement for them. That we would be able to truly come alongside them and give them whatever tools we can to bring hope to a generation.
