Good busy
This fall has been our busiest season yet in Wyoming. In the span of a little over a month we have about 8 scheduled services that we are honored to be a part of. It’s busy - but good busy. I love what I get to do. Fall is a great time for a focus on mission, because students are just getting back into the swing of things at school. For us, we also recognize that it’s much more difficult to plan things during winter weather months - so we try to squeeze in as many as we can. Spring is also a great time to remind about God’s mission so students can finish strong.
If you (or the students you are serving) are also finding yourself in a ‘good busy’ season here is some encouragement:
1. Stay connected to Jesus. Make intentional room for that foundational relationship with Jesus, put Him first. Don’t sacrifice the things that keep you connected and strong for what is urgent. Think Mary and Martha - choose what is best. This is so important for students as sports, plays, concerts, friends and all the things easily take up all their time. We all have to constantly remind ourselves not to sacrifice what you want most (a strong relationship with Jesus) for what you want now (…all the other things.)
2. Prioritize the things that are life giving. What things and people are in your life that are good for your soul? What things and people are in your life that help your grow in your relationship with Jesus? Are you hanging with people who you would want to become more like? If there are things in your life that are less good for you (think, social media time or that Netflix binge,) why not cut those. Guard your heart and choose the things that are going to bring you life.
Happy fall friends :)
